Participants of the Korea-Finland Teacher Exchange Programme have successfully completed their activities in Korea and returned to Finland on 29th of January.

Total of 5 Finnish participants, including 4 kindergarten teachers and a professor from University of Helsinki, in the faculty of early childhood education , visited and conducted education activities in 4 Korean kindergartens from 19 to 27 January, after attending an orientation at APCEIU. At the presentation, exchange teachers had 10 minutes each to give their presentation on the outcomes of the programme. The Korean host teachers were also given a chance to share their thoughts on the results. The programme was concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony.

During the final presenation, Laura Makela, one of the Finnish participating teachers, demonstrated the difference in educational systems between Korea and Finland . She expressed, “There is no one correct method in education. I was able to understand the diverse ways of teaching through this programme.”

Kindergarten teachers from Finland will be visiting Korea to participate in the Short-term Teaching Abroad Programme on 18 January.

Composed of four kindergarten teachers as well as an early childhood education professional from the University of Helsinki, the participants are going to spend two weeks in Korea. They will strengthen their network with Korean teachers who came back from their training in Finland last November. This is Finland’s first experience as a participating country, following Germany, Singapore, and Australia. Finland also draws great attention since they are sending kindergarten teachers when the former participants were mainly primary and secondary school teachers.

In next February, Korean educators will be dispatched to Germany (a group of ten teachers), Singapore (five teachers), and Australia (ten teachers). Each educator is an in-service primary and secondary school teacher with more than five years of experience in the educational field. Each group of teachers is planned to be dispatched to vocational technical schools in Hessen, Germany, secondary schools in Singapore and in Melbourne, Australia.
