Korean teachers to be dispatched to Malaysia have completed the four-day Pre-Departure training.
From 20 to 23 May, 12 in-service and pre-service teachers took part in a bundle of lectures on International Understanding, Malaysian language and culture, etc. as well as practical sessions including first aid - CPR.

말레이시아에 파견될 예정인 한국 교사들이 지난 20일부터 시작된 4일간의 사전연수를 마쳤습니다. 12명의 현직 및 예비 교사들은 국제이해교육, 말레이시아 언어 및 문화 등에 관한 강연들과 심폐소생술을 포함한 실습 프로그램에 참여하였습니다.

APCEIU successfully held the 14th Korean Teachers’ Training Workshop on EIU last 24-28 February in Penang, Malaysia with 12 primary and secondary school teachers nationwide.

Aimed to develop the teachers’ developing capacity of EIU in their learning environments by providing participatory and experiential learning programmes, the workshop was composed of two main segments. In Part 1 titled as ‘Understanding Malaysia and Exchange with Malaysian Teachers & Students’, participants learned about Malaysia and Penang, held joint workshops and field visits to local schools, also holding cultural exchange events with local teachers. For the second part, participants conducted EIU mini field projects in small groups using Project-based Learning (PBL) strategies in Georgetown, Penang. For the project, they held interviews and shared dialogues with local people, visited and observed the local areas in Georgetown. They also took part in hands-on activities relevant to their research topic. Their research topics include ‘Journey of Tea’, ‘From Chili to Curry’, ‘The Meaning of Colors’, and ‘Houses of Worship’.

The outcomes of the participants’ research project will be shared at the final presentation to be held on 5 April 2014. The workshop was organized in partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Arts-ED, a local non-profit organization based in Georgetown, Penang.
