APCEIU convened a joint workshop entitled “Development of International Organizations Series Project” attended by international organization experts and UNESCAP, ILO, and UNEP regional offices staff in Bangkok, Thailand from May 21st to 23rd. During this period, a series of interviews with the international organization staff was also conducted. 

The purpose of this workshop was to gather the staffs’ expertise and practical experiences at international organizations and to reflect them in the new volumes of APCEIU’s recent publication International Organizations Series. The experts participating in this workshop included Dr. Utak Chung (Director of APCEIU), Dr. Heung-soon Park (Sunmoon University), Dr. Dong-Ju Choi (Sookmyung Women’s University), and Dr. Dong-Joon Jo (Seoul National University). During the workshop, participants discussed the mission and potential of international organizations as well as the current challenges that they face.
The four new volumes of International Organizations Series will examine 14 main international organizations working for human rights, society and culture, health, and environment. In this regard, Dr. Dong Joon-Jo and eight other experts presented their relevant research findings at the Spring Conference of Korean Association of International Studies that took place in Chonbuk University on April 25th and 26th.
In addition, Dr. Shin-hwa Lee (Korea University) and  three other researchers led the discussion at the Symposium for International Organizations Series on May 14th, funded by National Research Foundation of Korea and held at APCEIU. Experts from diverse fields such as labor, population, women and refugees were invited to attend as discussion panels. The participants gave presentations and exchanged opinions on some of the international organizations to be covered in the upcoming volumes of International Organizations Series including ILO, IOM, UNFPA, UNHCR and UN Women.
